New fabric, Thread Sale, etc.....

I'm sad to report there hasn't been much sewing going on for me in the last few days. I've had a few alterations for clients and my Goddaughter was hospitalized for most of last week for an infection so that meant alot of trips to the hospital to visit her. Thankfully she's doing well and is at home and I'm almost caught up on my client alterations. I look forward to getting to work on Vogue DKNY 1194  which I'd love to have ready to wear to church on Sunday. I'll "burn the midnight oil" and sew my little heart off and see what happens.....

In the meantime,  the Fabric fairy brought me fabrics, knits to be exact, from Fabric.Com. Ya'll know how much I LOVE ME SOME KNITS. I share that love with some of you Ladies as well.......(ahem,... clears throat)......Mz.Choize. LOL! Well it turns out I had a fabric return that was refunded earlier this week during the same time that Fabric.Com got some new knits in. So I was able to use my store credit to stock up on 2 yards each of the following fabrics which are all Rayon blend jersey knits. Most of them have rayon, polyester and a couple of them are also mixed with lycra. They feel absolutely fabulous! You can find these fabric for sale here and right here......

Here are the fabrics....
(The knit on the left is blue with tan circles and the one on the right is white and green)

(I love these two, particularly the snake skin print on the right)

I also ran across an EXCELLENT thread sale at the Atlanta Thread and Supply Company. I love to share money saving information with my fellow sewists! And no, I don't get any kickbacks for doing so, I only wish I were that important! LOL! Anywho, I normally get their catalogs in the mail and have bought a few things in the past.
Well they've really revamped their catalog and I've recently taken an interest in getting several items from it. I noticed they were having a really good thread sale. Their Guterman 1100 yd thread is discounted to $1.85 and Maxi Lock thread is only $..... You can see the details here. I'm sure most of you order alot of your supplies because it's MUCH cheaper than local fabric stores. Heck, a 250yd spool of Guterman's thread costs about $3, so to get a spool of thread for 4X the amount for over a $1 less is a GREAT deal. Anywho, the sale is only until the end of the month. I plan on stocking up, especially for such cheap prices.

Lastly, I finally ordered this book I've been wanting F-O-R-E-V-E-R.
I love knits so it would only make since that I love books on sewing knits. I have a couple but have always wanted to add this to my collection. I've heard great reviews on this book and am always open to learning new information. This book unfortunately is no longer published so I had to track it down for a good price. It used to cost $21.95 on Amazon.com but is sold for $30+ used. So I stalked it on Ebay, but ended up getting it Half.Com for $26 which isn't bad since I saw people trying to sell is for over $100. I hate when people try to make big money on books that are no longer published.  That just seems so manipulative. But anyway I'm happy I bought it and it should get here on Friday.
Well that's it for now. I've really got to get a move on on this dress. Time to go sew. Happy Sewing to ya!!!

New Knit Goodies!!!

After making it to work and checking my emails I ran across this Fabric.Com sales flyer in my inbox.
I figured they were still trying to see some of the items I saw listed on last week so I almost didn't pay it any mind. It's been a couple of months since I ordered something from these guys.

I'm so glad I didn't ignore this email. It just so happens that they were selling printed jersey knits for the low, low, low price of $2.99/yard. After seeing this, I still quite don't know what happened. I've never placed an order so fast in my life. I think I had my order complete in 4 minutes flat!!! Time is of the essence when you're trying to acquire fabrics that in 2 of my 5 selections, had less then 10 yards left. So here's what I got. With the possible exception of the last 2 (please keep your fingers crossed for me that they still have enough left to complete my order), I  managed to get these fabrics.

Looking at these fabric, I'm sure some of them might raise a few eyebrows. I always trust my instincts when it comes to fabric. I don't have a method---- it's all just instinct. If I love the pattern and colors it's an automatic "shoo in". And I can usually match the right fabric with the right pattern. I can't wait to get my hands on these knit fabrics!!!!!

Palmer /Pletsch Books & Videos 40-50% off

Did you know that Hancock Fabric carries Palmer & Pletsch sewing books and dvd's? Did you know that Hancock's also accepts JoAnn Fabric coupons? So you know where I'm going with this. You can get Palmer/ Pletsch products for 40-50% off at Hancock using JoAnn coupons!!! Isn't that great!!!

I discovered this during the After Thanksgiving sale at Hancock. I was out of town and the clerk mentioned it. I already had most of the Palmer/Pletsch video (purchased from their website), but was able to get the last 2 I wanted for little to nothing. I was absolutely floored!!! I've always been a big fan of Palmer/Pletsch sewing books and I love their videos as well. They do an excellent job of illustrating and resolving fit & sewing issues. I absolutely love to show this type of materials to my sewing students as well. I also like the fusible interfacing and use it as well.

Here are some of the books and videos I own:

You know me I love "not paying full price for most things" and I love to pass on savings info when I run across it. At the very least, even if you're not interested in Palmer/Pletsch supplies you can start using your JoAnn coupons at Hancock. So next time you head to Hancock Fabrics don't forget to take along those JoAnn coupons!!!!

New Spring Pattern's

I'm sure most of you know Simplicity and McCall's released their new Spring patterns a couple of weeks ago. Well I've been sweating bullets, waiting for them to go on sale (because you know I don't pay full price for a pattern--I know you don't either). Finally Hancock's had McCall's for $1.99 and Simplicity's  for $0.99. If you missed this sale, Joann's I believe have them on sale either next week or the week after next.

Boy, I could't get off work fast enough to get to them. I headed straight to the pattern cabinets since I always look them up ahead of time online and make my picks. Finally, I got my "babies", before they were sold out and I'm so glad. This is what I wrangled up. Sorry the picks are blurry!

(I'm so happy I finally got Cynthia Rowley's pattern. I could live in that knit dress--seriously--like everyday. It looks so comfortable.)

(I got some good picks for everyone in my family. I've always wanted to make a shirt or two for my hubby. I'm looking forward to taking on that challenge in the future.)

(And a few accessories. Ok, I finally gave in and got a Snuggie pattern--not that a patterns needed to make it since its so easy to sew! I can't believe these things are so popular The idea is indeed a great and simple one!!!)

Overall I was pleased with the McCall & Simplicity spring patterns and was able to get some good one's. I can't wait to see what Butterick & Vogue releases.

50% off Thread DVD's SALE!!!

I love to pass on sale info when I get it. A couple of days I was "stalking" the Threads 2009 Magazine Archive DVD-ROM and ran across the information about the sale. Unfortunately the Magazine Archived DVD-ROM  isn't on sale (boo-hiss) but some other DVD's are. You can find more info here http://store.taunton.com/onlinestore/catalog/crafts/best-sellers. I don't need anything since I already own the Threads Fitting DVD series & The Best of Threads Vol 1 (although the Industry Insider DVD's look a little tempting--but remember I just like collecting DVD's since there are so few out there). But I think I'll hold out for the 2009 Magazine Archive DVD-ROM. Let me get back to my stalking.......... it may take some time but I'm determined to get that at a discounted price!
