Singing the Sewing Machine Blues.....

(That's my lil' girl on the left---the Brother Project Runway edition)

I think my sewing machine is sick! I was right in the middle of sewing a cute top when part of my shirt was sucked below the throat plate and my thread entangled. No big deal, right? This happens every once in and the remedy is to clear everything out and go back to sewing, right?  Well, I managed to clear everything out but now my sewing machine won't sew without jamming.  I took it the throat plate and removed any thread or lint that I could see, took out my bobbin holder, etc. But it still won't run properly. Guess it's off to the "doctor" for my baby. I can't help but feel heavy-hearted and mope a little bit. My baby's sick......boo-hoo!!! It's a computerized machine my only one aside from my Serger (the other 3 machines I have are manual). Besides it's fairly new since I bought it in the Summer 09'.  I'm not completely familiar with some of the issue that are common to these machines. I hope it's not too serious or expensive. In the meantime......time to pull out the back-up machine. Sigh----

  4. Is the bobbin case in correctly? That is a fairly common issue and is a big cause of jamming. Sometimes when you get stuff down the throatplate, it spins the bobbin case around.

  9. Sorry to hear about your baby. That happened to my Kenmore 16221 sewing machine - right in the middle of sewing a garment the throat plate sucked in the fabric, cleared it, resumed sewing and it did it again, cleared it, then when I resumed again the machine starting throttling or whatever its called and had to send it to sears. They repaired it, but I never found out what the underlying problem was I just told them what happened and was too happy to have it back and purring like a kitten. Thank goodness you have backups.

  11. I have the same machine, and that happened to me once. I changed the needle, the thread, the bobbin--everything I could think of. I turned it off, went to bed, and the next day it was fine. I think it was the Machine Fairy who fixed it over night. I hope it's nothing too serious. Let us know what happens.
