So here's the FIFTH Give-Away Prize:
(This is a great little book with some interesting clothing ideas. It's a neat book to have around to help get the crafting juices flowing. So additional pics from the book are below....)

Sewing allows us to use our imaginations and creative juices to unfold. To some extent, sewing can allow you to enter a fantasy world and bring our fantastical ideas to life. Fantasies can inspire us, compel us, and motivate us. Every once in a while I like to fantasize about my future in sewing. I hope and pray that I'll have just as much desire to sew, maybe ten times more than I do now. I hope that my skill level is exceptional and that I will keep challenging myself all the while learning and growing. I also have some other fantasies that I rarely tell anyone about. I usually refrain from it, for fear of looking silly, because I interact with people who aren't as passionate about sewing as I am. So since I know you guys are, hey why not--- I'll share my fantasies with you.
As far as my sewing fantasies go, I would love to ultimately have my own Sewing and Alteration shop. I'd love to have a nice piece of land to have my shop on or maybe some commercial property. I currently have my tailoring/alteration business and work out of my sewing studio. But it would be great to provide my services on a larger scale and to have a few employees to do the alterations. The highlight of my shop would be the custom tailoring department. If I pick up the designing bug I'd love to sale a few of my designs and custom make clothing for a small group of clientele.  I also would love to have 1 or 2 high profile clients in which I would make clothes on a regular basis. One of the clients will be on the East coast and the other on the West Coast and I get to jet set back and forth to work with them (at their expense of course).  I fantasize that during that time I will be extremely good at draping and pattern drafting that I will be able to make most anything I can think of.  Maybe I might be able to offer a few of my designs for the Oscar's. Who knows? This is just one of my fantasies. I would also love to teach Women how to sew and tour the country doing so. I 'd also love to write a book on Sewing---especially since I'm such a book worm myself. Then once I make some money, use it to help provide sewing machines and fabric to help women in needy countries. I know I have a whirlwind of fantasies. Maybe some of it seems far fetched but who knows. A girl can fantasize can't she........

So you know where I'm going with this. I've divulged mine---now's your turn.

What's your Sewing Fantasy?

Remember your answer qualifies you for this giveaway. I can't wait to read your answers.

  1. To set up sewing teaching and support groups in under- priviledged/ 3rd world countries. This can make a huge difference to communities.

  2. My sewing fantasy is to make high end formal and bridal gowns. I'm thinking I might make it to this by the time my kids are all grown up.

  3. My sewing fantasy is to open and own a boutique of clothes that I personally design!

  4. My sewing fantasy is to be able to make any garment I desire in a perfect fit. To make garments that are just fabulous in design and fit.

  5. When I was a child, I wanted to be a fashion designer. A part of this fantasy is still in me, but my present dream (which is still a basis for the former fantasy) is to be able to sew ANY piece of clothes that I can imagine. So, if I, for example, saw a great designer dress made by the most skilled sewers, a spectcular ball gown, perfecly tailored coat or the best fitting pants, I'd like to be able to say - I CAN DO THAT! :-)

  6. My sewing fantasy is to sell my own line of patterns. I thought that I would get started on it this year, but my life didn't afford me as much "spare time" as I thought it would.

  7. Victoria, this question was one that really made me ponder...I pondered the question, simply due to the fact that I myself did not have a sewing fantasy or vision..... Wow, and immediately I thought about the scripture that says "Write the vision and make it plain.." So, that is exactally what I plan to do...So thanks for getting the wheels turning!

  8. I want to be really good at fitting and teach women to fit them selve. My dream is not to sew for others, more like learning others to fit them selves and maybe also to sew. I would like a larger sewing studio with room for extra machines. But I need to get better at both fitting and sewing - but the fitting education is vital.

  9. Oooh, good question!! Most of my sewing fantasies are pretty ephemeral, and much less exciting than yours! I would like to have a wardrobe of beautiful, perfectly fitting, hand tailored clothing that I have sewn myself. And I'd like for my kids to want me to sew for them, even when they're teenagers. That may be too much to ask!

  10. My fantasy is very similiar to a few others...I would love to be able to create whatever I can image! The real fantasy is to sew well enough to sell anything I create! How great it would be to stay at home in my studio just creating beautiful pieces to sell (and wear!!) and make a good living doing what you love! Now that's a fantasy!! (Sounds like Victoria already has my fantasy started!)

  11. My dream is to have a stunning wardrobe that people envy. And when they ask where I got such and such, I will smile and walk away!

  12. To be able to sew what I need and quickly with perfect fit. I am going to a wedding today, I wish last week I would have started making a fabulous dress to wear.

  13. Oh, I'm still developing my fantasy - first off I'd love to be able to make everything beautifully and have everyone tell me how beautiful it all is :-) I would also love to have an Etsy store for lingerie in small back / large cup sizes (when I develop more talent). I'd also love to have an atelier where people come for beautiful couture which I can produce.

  14. Hmmm. My fantasy isn't as ambitious or as exciting as yours. I'd love to have a fine fabric shop, just to experience the beautiful fabric.

  15. Fabricateandmira, to the contrary your fantasy sounds spectacular. I think I'll want to get my fabrics from your shop one day (wink)!

  16. Mine would be to design patterns and have a pattern and notions line!

  17. My sewing fantasy is to be able to knock off any piece of clothing that I set my eyes on. I would love to know how to drape and accomplish that. I have a book on draping, but I really need to take a class--there are just no classes in this small podunk town I live in.

  18. oh, to have the interior match the exterior of everything I make. To hold a beloved garment in my hands, turn to the inside and see every lovely stitch in perfect order.

And then, to have someone commission said garment!

  19. I also fantasize about having a sewing studio. I'd love to sell made-to-measure clothing to women who can't find flattering clothing off the rack. I'd especially enjoy making people feel happy about what they are wearing. I guess my fantasies are a lot like yours, because I would also love to have a staff of 4-6 people. I'd enjoy mentoring co-workers who are passionate about sewing and I'd provide a friendly, creative & stimulating environment for them to blossom. In fact, it would make me happy if they'd leave after a few years to launch their own fabulous fashion lines. And I'd also enjoy using the studio for workshops and classes. It would be pretty sweet if any of my clients decided to enroll in classes and learn to sew. I guess the bottom line is that I would love to spread my passion for sewing and how great it feels to wear custom made clothing.
I admire how far you have gotten with your dream already!

  20. My sewing dream is to be able to spend all day doing what I love - sewing! I would also love to design beautiful fabrics, always been a dream of mine.

  21. My fantasy is to become good enough to sew the majority of my clothes and have them fit perfectly. Then to teach low income women to sew - due to health issues and lack of grocery stores in low income neighborhoods, many of these women are overweight and have similar fitting issues to me. Would love to help them feel better about themselves by teaching them to sew, plus could be a path out of poverty...

  22. Well, my dream of sewing would spend the time sewing for me! Yes, I know ... sounds selfish, but I've been sewing clothes for the public almost 18 years and I tell you that people (in general) isn´t very gratefu when they pay money. I have a good memory of a very few customers.

  23. I would LOVE to run a sewing school! Thats'a something I will probably do after my retirement!
Right now I dream of having more time for sewing and blogging!

  24. A sewing/knitting lounge/cafe/fabric and yarn shop. But I'm afraid I'd lose the pleasure to sew if I make a living out of it. Oh, I don't have the money lol

  25. I have quite a few sewing fantasies as well. My main sewing dream would be to sew for Disney World. I am a HUGE fan of Disney and this past summer we went on this backlot tour of the Hollywood Studios during our (almost) annual trip to Disney World and we got a sneak peek at the seamstresses that create the costumes for the characters. Disney is such a magical place for people to go to...a rite of passage in the U.S. I would love to be able to create those gorgeous costumes that are a part of the magic of Disney World. It's much different than what most people think of doing, but I would love to do that one day!

  26. I have two - to be able to sew clothes that fit well and look good, with lovely fabrics, and to learn to sew well enough to teach sewing to disadvantaged or refugee women, men and children. I loev teaching to it would be great to be able to teach something as constructive and self-affirming as sewing.
PS don't enter me in this draw - this book should go to someone creative!

  27. I'm going to echo some other people here and say the ability to knock off whatever I want would be great!
