When I'm Feeling Blue............ Simplicity 3867 (again)!!!

I've been on a bit of a roller-coaster ride lately. There's been sooooo much to do, soooo little time, and too many decisions to be made.  This is usually my normal life (like most of yours) but I guess things have been a bit more intense. So needless to say with that added pressure I've been a little blue. Such is life and with some prayer (talking with God always helps) , love & hugs from the family, and some fabric store browsing (just being surrounded by so much fabric relaxes me) I was able to snap back to my old self.

So with so much on my plate I wasn't able to complete a project on last week like I'd planned. Then I had the worst case of indecisiveness. Originally I planned to make this....

I got it all cut out and then couldn't bring myself to sew it up. I simply changed my mind on it. I put that on hold and then switched to this pattern and stretch cotton poplin fabric with patchwork print.
Then I changed my mind about the pattern and thought I'd find another one that would work best.

Well I finally settled on Simplicity 3867 which needless to say is definitely my TNT pattern. I've always wanted to make it in a patterned fabric---you know how much I love patterned fabric! I've reviewed it Here and Right Here, so no need to go through that again.  I felt inspired to make this top since I knew I would be hanging out downtown this weekend for a special event and wanted a cute-sy top. The top turned out great and at first I was a little nervous that the patchwork print would be too overwhelming. But I think it works and I love all of the shades of blue!!!! The family and I were able to head downtown today to hang out on Riverstreet and get Japaneses food. The weather was beautiful!!! After this weekend I definitely feel more refreshed. Here are a few pics of my top as I frolicked around downtown Savannah......

Had a great time today and making my top was well worth it!  Now I'm moving on to the next project......Happy Sewing to ya.....

  12. Very pretty! We went downtown this weekend too. My best friend put her dog in the Weiner Dog Races, so we went to cheer her on. I am so sorry I haven't emailed you back yet. I have been swamped with school and work. Midterms and FY end! YIKES! I have midterms this week, but next would work out great for me if you want to get together.

  15. Sooo very cute Victoria!! I missed your other blogs on this top (my loss!) and have been looking for it every since I spotted it on Erica B's blog (it's pictured in her blog header in black). I'm sure the Lord made the decision for you to make it again because He knew I needed to see it! I'm running out today to see if I can still find the pattern! By the way, I have the New Look 6729 pattern too and I am eagerly waiting to see how it turns out for you! (I've not made it yet) Good Luck and thanks again for a great blog!

  17. I love the patchwork top! What a great idea, and it turned out so pretty! My family lives near Savannah as well. In fact, I graduated in Hinesville, GA! I have been to Riverstreet many times, and I especially love Riverstreet Sweets! I enjoyed seeing pics of a familiar place.

  18. I love how you said that being around all that fabric calms you...boy do I understand that! I use to visit the garment district whenever I was having a bad day at my old job...it doesn't work for this one but I know what you mean!

    The top is lovely btw!

  23. I really really like the patchwork print! I don't think in a top it is overpowering at all, and perfect with white capris .. The neckline is just perfect and the shape is so pretty! I wish I was as productive at the sewing machine as you ... your little one looks about the age of mine (5 in 9 more weeks) -- are you sewing while she is at school? Is that your secret? Hope you are loving fall in the southeast ... I lived for seven years in Clemson, SC and always miss the southeast this time of year.

  24. Thanks Ladies for all of your nice comments:)

Caroline, my lil' one is 3 and I actually work full time while she is in daycare. So I have the task of doing the balancing act of sewing while she's at home and on the weekends. Boy that's tricky! LOL!
