I have a funny story to tell. Earlier today on my lunch period I wrote the following blog post entitled "An Honest Prayer" which I'd planned on posting later today. It's a written prayer to God expressing my frustration on waiting for the new Vogue patterns. Just a lighthearted post highlighting my pattern obsession and need for divine intervention (smile)!
My prayer went a little like this.......
God, you know today starts the Joann’s 3 Day Sale and Vogue patterns are $3.99 each. I called my local Jo-Ann’s on yesterday to find out if the Spring 2011 Vogue patterns would be available for sale. The sales associate said no. I asked them if they would be in on tomorrow and to that he gave a definite and adamant NO! This is the 2nd Vogue pattern sale since the release of the new Spring line---and still NO patterns. I mean It’s bad enough that it took them FOREVER for them to actually release the Spring pattern line (they were at least a month or so later than the other Big 4 companies) and on top of that it’s taking them FOREVER to get them in store. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but you know what I mean.....I mean I had my whole scheduled planned for today. I was going to delay going to work and anxiously wait in the car until Jo-Ann’s open, run in and be one o the first people in the city to get my hands on those sale patterns.Well I guess that plans out of the window. Ok, I know I sound a bit desperate but have you seen how fantastic some of the new patterns are. Oh, of course you have---you’re God and you know everything.
I know patience is a virtue but I’m reaching the end of my rope. How long do I have to wait until I can get my hands on them. Alright, I'll be patient but could you orchestrate a little divine intervention to speed things up. Thanks for taking the time to listen to an over crazed seamstress. Love you, Amen.
So I saved this with the intention of posting it once I made it home after work. I made a quick stop at the cleaners to pick up my wool (the one I'm currently using to make a coat with) and I stopped by Jo-Ann's to pick up some liner and other supplies. I walked past the pattern table and to my surprise spotted the new Vogue Spring catalog. I was super excited but remembered that I was told just yesterday that no patterns would be availabe today. So I checked the pattern cabinet to be on the safe side and there were NO new patterns. Seriously, you've got to be kidding me. Who puts out a new catalog without putting out new patterns? So I grabbed my supplies and checked out. While I was in the checkout line, I decided to inquire of the cashier when the new patterns would be set out. The cashier was able to get another associate to check for the patterns in the stock room. And to my suprise, the associate emerged with all of the new patterns. I was floored and excited. She was a doll and helped me pick out all my patterns which I had listed on a post-it note in my wallet ( yes, I come prepared for patterns sales). I couldn't believe it! Here's what I got.....
I'm SO excited to have the new Vogue patterns and look forward to incorporating some into my Spring wardrobe. So this is my little story for the day. I started my day with a prayer and ended with an answer. What a miracle. To that all I can say is.........Thanks God, you really work FAST!(smile)
Can't wait to get mine, but who knows when that will be!!!
ReplyDeleteI got mine this morning as well!
ReplyDeleteMy prayer today has gone kind of like this - "Please God, let the patterns I want still be available tonight when I am finally able to get out of this house filled with sick children." BTW, you do know that Hancock will honor JoAnn's sales, right? Of course I've only read about this, I've never actually tried it to see.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, Thank God for answered prayer! LOL! This is funny, but I truly understand your frustration~ I posted a similar blog back in December(http://csrapdu.ning.com/profiles/blogs/i-finally-got-themgheez). OMG! The excuses I received for missing patterns....
ReplyDeleteI don't eagerly rush out anymore for that very reason, but I'm glad to know they are on sale. I'll make a stop by my local Joann's tomorrow to see if they have something this time. :)
Can' wait to start seeing these made up on blogs everywhere! Now if you could just organise a 3.99 online sale....
ReplyDeleteHappy sewing! Amanda I know that JoAnn's does honor Hancock's sale, so I believe it has to work :>
ReplyDeleteGirl, you know that no prayer no matter how small goes unanswered! You got 3 of the ones I want! Glad they came!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh... You crack me up! I'm so glad you got your patterns. Some of those look really great. I can't wait to see you work your magic.
ReplyDeleteI guess I need to look at what's on sale...LOL!
Great story!! Nice selections too!
ReplyDeleteIsn't God AMAZING that HE cares about even the small things in our lives. I don't know what I would do if I did not have HIM to talk to.
ReplyDeleteahhh...the power of prayer is amazing! I need to get ym patterns soon too! Perhaps a short prayer will speed things up! :)
ReplyDeleteAmanda---good question! I know Hancock's honors Jo-Ann's coupons but I never thought about sales items. Mad14KT says they do. Btw, hope the little one's get better soon!
ReplyDeleteRachel, you are SO right! I'm humbled by how much He cares. God is my Greatest friend and Confidant:)
Srsly, you OWE God! What a great story.
ReplyDeleteYay! Clapping hands yay! Patterns are like sewing candy. God answers prayers.
ReplyDeleteI am soooo happy for you! And I love everyone of those patterns and of course I can't wait to see your version!
ReplyDeleteYou got a hold of some great patterns! Then again, this new Vogue spring line is great!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a great pattern haul! You definitely deserve such good luck. (I've just ordered three of those patterns - I'm looking forward to their arrival!)
ReplyDeleteTo all wondering,Joann's will not allow you to use discount coupon's (ex. 40% off one fabric item) on their red dot tables. I argue that it's not sale item stuff~ it's permanantly marked down, hee-hee. But, Hancock's does not honor Joann's sales.
ReplyDeleteJoann's will also honor Hobby Lobby's sales.
The last time I was at JoAnn's the cutting table attendant commented to another employee, "I wish I could sew!"
ReplyDeletePutting the catalog out before stocking the cabinets sounds backwards but maybe the ladies don't sew and therefore don't know how much these new patterns are anticipated. Those are some gorgeous patterns you found.
So true sewistafashionista! It was just oversight! But I must admit, that's kinda like dangling a cigarette in front of someone trying to quit smoking----what a tease! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy you were able to get those very nice pattern selections!! HE is always on time!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is quite a haul! Nice selection of patterns!
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the compliments on my dress.
ReplyDeleteI've had this same thing happen to me. I went there to buy the new patterns during the sale, they said they hadn't come in yet, but then an associate spotted some boxes that they had not opened yet and then helped me get out the ones I wanted. Crazy, huh?
Love the ones you picked out.
