Headed North, or as North as One can go in the US.........

I have a few short hours before I'm on a plane and headed to Barrow, Alaska for field research. I did indeed finish my flannel pants in time for the trip so I'm delighted they'll be accompanying me on the trip and will be keeping me really warm at night (I'll post pics later). I've hated not being able to blog, review, and read you Guy's blogs for the past week, but I'm looking forward to catching up while I'm away (in between working that is). You better believe that although I won't be able to sew, I'll use my extra time to catch up on watching a few sewing DVD's  and read through some articles on my Best of Threads DVD's vol 1&2. I hope to  post in a couple of days when I get settled. Until then please sew a few stitches for me..........

  6. K.Line, I work in a Marine Microbiology lab and we're conducting a 2 year study to see how melting permafrost affects bacteria and phytoplankton (the little guys in the ocean responsible for all the oxygen). It seems that these 2 organisms may compete so they can use the goodies that are released when the ice melts. That's the basic premise and of course it's more complicated then that but it is really cool scientific research.

  7. Wow! How awesome! I have to tell my son what you're doing. What's your length of stay? I know your p.j.'s will come in handy. Safe travel.

  8. Hey Dei! I'll just be there for the next 9 days so I won't be gone for too long--enough to get the experience & work without freezing my patootie off! LOL!

Thanks Ladies for all our well wishes!

  9. You are so fascinating! When one reads a blog on a certain topic (i.e. sewing) it's all one considers about the author (or maybe I should just speak for myself). Here you are, sewist extraordinaire AND scientist. What a great combo.
